This is a computer simulation of an Apollo lunar landing capsule.
The on-board computer has failed (it was made by Xerox) so you have to land the capsule manually.
Set burn rate of retro rockets to any value between 0 (free fall) and 200 (maximum burn) pounds per second. Set a new burn rate every 10 seconds.
Capsule weight 32,500 lbs; fuel weight 16,000 lbs. Moon gravity, retro thrust and the rocket equation are transcribed 1:1 from the original 1978 BASIC.
Landing quality — impact velocity ≤1.2 mph: PERFECT LANDING; ≤10 mph: GOOD LANDING; ≤60 mph: craft damage; faster: no survivors.
Score = fuel left (lbs) + landing bonus (PERFECT 2,000 · GOOD 1,000 · DAMAGE 400 · CRASH 0). In a P2P race, a safe landing beats any crash; ties go to higher score, then longer survival.
